COUNCIL FOR ADMINISTRATION (CFA)
Vauxhall Walk 6 Graphite Square
SW11 5EE London - United Kingdom
The CfA (Council for Administration) is a registered charity and a non-profit making organisation. We develop and set the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for Business & Administration skills in the UK, which are the structure for vocational qualifications and learning frameworks.
NOS are a benchmark for occupational competence and describe what an individual needs to do, know and understand in order to carry out a particular role or function. They are work-related, competency based qualifications and better known as NVQs (National Vocational Qualifications) in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and SVQs (Scottish Vocational Qualifications) in Scotland.
Widely recognised by employers, S/NVQs are often used as the main focus of training. S/NVQs demonstrate that an employee has the skills and knowledge necessary to perform competently and successfully. The courses are partly taught in the workplace and partly in college or in an approved centre. Assessed entirely in the workplace, employees are required to develop a portfolio of evidence that shows them performing work activities to an S/NVQ standard.
The CfA develops and approves a range of qualifications, frameworks and learning programmes for the Business & Administration sector. Each qualification is developed in consultation with sector specialists and employers and reviewed regularly to ensure they reflect current practice within the Business & Administration sector.
The Business & Administration Apprenticeship has proven to be one of the most popular areas of training. Despite being a non-traditional Apprenticeship, it remains firmly in the top 10 of the most opted for Apprenticeships.
The CfA’s dedication to vocational education has contributed significantly to the enhanced profile of vocational learning within the Business & Administration sector in the UK. Traditionally, learning in this area was predominantly academic but through the development of projects such as Young Apprenticeships, Foundation degrees, European qualifications and most recently New Diplomas. Increasingly, young people and employers alike, are recognising the value of work based learning.
