The Organisation for Vocational Education and Training (O.E.E.K.) has been established within the framework of the National System for Vocational Education and Training and is under the supervision of the Greek Ministry of National Education and Religious Affairs. It is an autonomous legal entity, with administrative and economic independence.
Its mission is to ensure that the objectives of the National System for Vocational Education and Training have been reached. Within this framework, the OEEK:

• organises, develops and offers initial vocational training, having the overall responsibility for the Public Vocational Training Institutes,
• supervises and inspects Private Vocational Training Institutes,
• organises the official validation and qualification system for vocational education and training,
• ensures consistency between the vocational training system and the education system,
• implements all national or regional programmes of VET,
• makes sure that the quality standards are applied in the officially recognised stages of VET.
• In addition, OEEK:
• recognises and qualifies the professions which correspond to vocational education and training, provided by Vocational Training Institutes, according to the conditions and needs of the Greek and European markets,
• determines vocational rights of all vocational education and training levels, as illustrated in Law 2009/92, in co-operation with competent Ministries and social partners,
• absorbs and manages E.U. funds, participating in programmes related to VET.
