A cooperative model is adopted in designing IFTS courses: it is managed by the Regions and it has to guarantee the integration of the different education & training systems. The design takes into account the national standards set out by the Ministry of Education (MIUR) and the Ministry of Labour after the acceptation by the Unified Conference.
The Regions are in charge of identifying the professional profiles and adjusting them to local needs.
The Ministry of Education (MIUR) is in charge of awarding the secondary education diplomas; the Regions are responsible for awarding other qualifications/certificates.
The design of IFTS courses involves different partners: second level secondary schools; universities; public research bodies; vocational training organizations; enterprises and their associations. In the ITS planning the Provinces are also involved.
A Technical Committee is also established; it involves the representatives of all partners. The Technical Committee is responsible for
- the coordination and the supervision of the course design
- the course management and monitoring
- the internal and external assessment.
IFTS courses and programmes are designed to train Senior Technicians and are addressed to young people holding a secondary school degree or to employed adults.
